Scrap Food Waste
When the State of Vermont passed a law to ban food scraps from going to the landfill, they needed a way to get information to the public that not only brought awareness to the new law, but also expressed why people should care about it. This campaign work was done in collaboration with the team at HMC Advertising. As the lead designer on this project, I had the fun task of building the food art creations. I enjoyed the creativity of choosing which produce would work best with the designs and carefully cutting and arranging the food to create these beautiful compositions. These ads were were used on social media and Google display. I also designed the campaign website, which provides more information about the law, how to compost food scraps, and tips to prevent food waste.
Website
I designed the Lets Scrap Food Waste website, which served as a landing page for the advertising campaign. It includes information about the law, how to compost food scraps, and tips to prevent food waste. I organized the structure of the pages and all of the content to be easy for the user to read and understand. The design capability of this site was limited because it had to be created in a government templated site. However, I worked closely with the developer to get the design to look as close to the original design as possible within the limitations and get it to still reflect the campaign brand identity.
Video case study
I created this video case study of the campaign, which documents the creative work done for the campaign and the success that was achieved in the media reach and engagement of the ads.
Continuation of the campaign…
The next year, we created a follow-up campaign to continue promoting the Let’s Scrap Food Waste messaging. This time around, the goal of the campaign was to offer tips to help prevent food waste from happening in the first place.
